The potential problem with individual interventions
Mediation is a really effective and quick tool for 'lancing the boil' of a dispute - it gets a result. However, what it doesn't normally do is address the fundamental attitude and personality issues which often give rise to the dispute in the first place, tackle psychological factors during the mediation, or help with the 'bedding down' of the new realities post-settlement.
Similarly, personal or executive coaching is a great tool to help people develop and to tackle issues that affect them as an individual. But what it won't normally do is deal with the underlying systemic problems in a team or an entire organisation.
This is also the case with training on its own, especially in a conflict and problem arena where mindsets are much more entrenched. New learnings can easliy be forgotten after the initial flurry of enthusiasm, with course handouts collecting dust. Further embedding is needed to maximise effectiveness.
'Blended' conflict management interventions deliver
Enter 'blended' conflict resolution and management. We offer a very powerful mix of tools which together can tackle almost any dispute as they complement and reinforce each other, and do so in a 'proper' and sustainable way, not as a simple quick fix, but as a long-term solution - especially relevant where ongoing relationships matter.
We offer coaching as an integral part of the service, where required. This coaching is psychologically rooted which is most useful in conflict situations or where there are tensions and problems. Personality assessments form part of this service where needed as this casts further light about what's going on and helps with solutions.
Our use of group facilitation for team conflicts and problems, to help bring focus, is often invaluable and our support with negotiations is used to good effect to maximise success.
Then there are our stress management interventions, endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive, which help to reveal what is going on on the ground and focus attention toward appropriate settlement interventions.
With mentoring and training tracks to help develop management talent in this area (reinforced by coaching as required), our service is complete.
How would your case be dealt with?
We assess each unique case we take on to see what the most approprate and cost-effective interventions would be. This may only need to be a single intervention, but blending two or more interventions seamlessly is very common - whatever is right and acceptable for you.
Having been acknowledged by CEDR to have undertaken one of the Top 10 most significant mediations between 1990 and 2010, and being selected by the Institute of Directors as one of their experts in law and leadership, we are among the best, and you can be sure of excellent service.
